CRLS Baseball Player Commitments

A Cambridge Rindge and Latin Baseball Player Does the Following:
 
Offseason-(fall and/or winter if not playing a CRLS sport that season)
  • Works on improving his game(individual work such as hitting, and fielding drills)
  • Commits to a baseball strength program (especially hands, forearms, abs, legs)
  • Takes care of himself: nutrition, proper rest, maintains good academic standing
  • Has the desire to learn the game. Reads his notebook, studies baseball books, and videotapes.
Pre-season (end of CRLS winter sport until 3rd start of baseball season)
  • Works on improving his game(individual work such as hitting, and fielding drills)
  • Commits to a baseball strength program (especially hands, forearms, abs, legs)
  • Takes care of himself: nutrition, proper rest, maintains good academic standing
  • Has the desire to learn the game. Reads his notebook, studies baseball books, and videotapes.
In-season (1st day of baseball until end of CRLS spring season)
 
A Cambridge Rindge and Latin Baseball player:
  • Comes to every practice and game prepared, focused, enthusiastic, confident
  • Has outstanding work ethic, works hard every day to improve and be the best player he can be
  • Is hungry, aggressive, and intense every moment of every game
  • Does the extra work necessary to reach his potential
  • Sets goals for himself and commits to reaching those goals
  • Yet, is a total team player; puts his team goals ahead of his personal goals
  • Makes baseball his top priority behind only family/religion/academics
  • Strives to have the best attitude on the team and impact the team attitude in a positive way as to make his team have the best attitude in the league
  • Makes 100% commitment to his team and teammates
  • Makes Cambridge Rindge and Latin Baseball his only athletic activity during season
  • Is a leader; leads by example as well vocally (in a positive manner)
  • Handles adversity; persists and does not get frustrated/discouraged when “it gets hard” (lack of playing time, not hitting well, team not winning etc.) control the things you can control and let go of those you cannot
  • Has the courage to work on his weaknesses, not just his strengths
  • Gives 100% on the field every inning
  • Takes pride in doing the “little things” right.
  • Demonstrates positive attitude and carries himself with pride and dignity on the field, in the locker room, on the bus, in school, and at home.
  • Has a positive influence on his teammates(a neutral influence is not good enough)
  • Runs to and from drills every time during practice
  • Runs on and off the field at ¾ speed every time in practice or game
  • Understands the importance of the fundamentals of the game(good mechanics etc.) and works hard to perfect them
  • Commits to utilizing “the mental game” including positive self-talk and visualization techniques.
  • Shows respect to teammates, umpires, fans, opponents, coaches.
  • Represents his team, family, school, and community with class and dignity.
  • Stays focused and committed throughout the entire season
  • Takes care of himself: nutrition, proper rest, limits activities.
  • Has desire to learn the game. Reads his notebook. Studies baseball books and videotapes.
 
During Summer (end of high school to at least end of July)
·         Plays summer baseball
·         Works on improving his game(individual work)
·         Commits to a baseball strength program (hands, forearms, abs, legs)
·         Has desire to learn the game. Reads his notebook. Studies baseball books and videotapes.
 
Every Day: All year Long
  • Is a model citizen on and off the field
  • Does his best in the classroom
  • Commits to becoming the best person he can be
 
If you can do all of the above, you will make a significant contribution to our program and become a positive and lasting part of a great tradition. You will have fun, be successful, and enjoy all the benefits that our program can offer. You will be a Cambridge Rindge and Latin Baseball Player.
